UniteGive ("UniteGive," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have. By using UniteGive, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways:
- Information you give us. Account details (name, email, password), campaign content (title, description, photos, fundraising goal, beneficiary information), donation details, payout information, identity verification documents, and messages you send through our contact form or support channels.
- Information collected automatically. Device and browser data, IP address, general location, pages viewed, referring URLs, and cookies or similar technologies used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure site performance.
- Information from third parties. Payment processors (for donation and payout processing), identity verification providers, fraud-prevention services, and authentication providers such as Google when you choose to sign in with them.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Operate, maintain, and improve the platform and your account.
- Process donations, issue receipts, and send funds to verified beneficiaries.
- Verify identity, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms of Service.
- Respond to questions submitted through our contact form or support channels.
- Send transactional emails (receipts, account notices, campaign updates you've subscribed to).
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not send marketing emails to people who have not asked to receive them.
3. How We Share Information
- Public campaign content. Campaign titles, descriptions, photos, organizer names, and donation activity (other than donations marked anonymous) are visible to anyone who can view the campaign page.
- Service providers. We share information with vendors who help us run UniteGive, including payment processors, hosting providers, email infrastructure, identity verification, and analytics. These providers may only use your information to perform services for us.
- Beneficiaries and organizers. When you donate, we share necessary details with the campaign organizer or beneficiary to fulfill the donation and provide receipts.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information when required by law, to enforce our Terms, to protect users, or to investigate suspected fraud or abuse.
- Business transfers. If UniteGive is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure the site, and understand how the platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may limit functionality.
5. Your Choices
- Account. Update or correct your account information from your account settings.
- Email. Unsubscribe links are included in non-essential emails. Transactional emails (receipts, security alerts, account notices) are required to operate your account.
- Anonymous donations. When supported, you can choose to keep your name hidden from the public campaign page. Your information is still shared with the campaign organizer and payment processor as needed.
- Access, deletion, and other rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information. Contact us at admin@unitegive.com to make a request.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active, as needed to provide the platform, and as required to comply with legal, tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention obligations. We may retain limited information after account closure to enforce our Terms or resolve disputes.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and vetted service providers. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
8. Children's Privacy
UniteGive is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at admin@unitegive.com and we will delete it.
9. United States Only
UniteGive is operated from and available only in the United States. Fundraising accounts may only be opened by individuals or organizations located in the United States, and donations are intended to be made from United States-issued payment methods. We do not target or knowingly serve users outside the United States.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or by email when appropriate.
