UniteGive — The Power of Giving Together
For organizers

Disbursement Policy

How donations flow from your supporters to your bank account — timing, fees, holds, and what to expect at every step.

Last updated June 28, 2026

1. How donations are collected

Donations are processed by our PCI-compliant payments partner. When a donor checks out, the donor's card is charged for the donation amount, the optional tip to UniteGive, and standard credit card processing (2.9% + $0.30). UniteGive itself charges no platform fee; 100% of the donation reaches the campaign.

2. When funds become available

Donations are held by our payment processor for a short clearing period — typically 2–7 business days for a new account — before they are available for payout. After that, funds accumulate in the organizer's connected payout account and become available on a rolling basis.

3. How payouts work

  • Organizers connect a bank account through our payment partner during campaign setup.
  • Payouts are issued to that connected bank account, typically arriving within 2–5 business days.
  • U.S. bank accounts are supported at launch. International support is on our roadmap.
  • You can review payout history at any time from your organizer dashboard.

4. Holds and reviews

We may pause payouts for any of the following reasons:

  • Suspected fraud, identity issues, or violations of our Acceptable Use Policy.
  • A high volume of refund requests, disputes, or unresolved donor complaints.
  • Unusual donation activity that requires additional verification.
  • Pending review by our trust & safety team.

If we place a hold, we will notify the organizer by email and explain what is needed to release the funds.

5. Refunds and chargebacks

Refunds reduce the campaign's raised total and may be deducted from future payouts. Chargebacks (when a donor disputes a charge through their bank) follow the standard dispute process. See our Refund Policy for details.

6. Failed payouts

If a payout fails (closed bank account, wrong routing number, etc.), funds are returned to the organizer's payout balance. Update your bank information from the organizer dashboard and we will retry on the next payout cycle.

7. Taxes

Donations made on UniteGive are personal gifts and are generally not tax-deductible for the donor. Organizers are responsible for reporting any taxable income. UniteGive is not a registered 501(c)(3) charity and does not issue donation tax receipts. If you are raising money for a registered nonprofit, please consult your tax advisor.

8. Inactive or unclaimed funds

If a campaign has a balance available for payout and the organizer has not connected or verified a bank account within 90 days of being notified, we may refund the donors of record to the original payment method, less processing fees that cannot be recovered.
