What is UniteGive's platform fee?+
0%. We never deduct a platform fee from your donations. The only charge against a donation is the standard card processing fee: 2.7% + $0.30 per transaction in USD.
How is the tip different from the platform fee?+
The tip is a separate, optional amount the donor adds to support UniteGive at checkout. It is not taken from the campaign. Suggested presets are 10%, 15%, and 20%, and the slider goes all the way to $0.
If the donor leaves the tip at $0, do you take anything?+
No. UniteGive receives $0 from that transaction. The campaign receives the full donation minus only the 2.7% + $0.30 processing fee.
Can a donor change or remove the tip after donating?+
Tips are set at checkout and processed as a single charge with the donation. If a tip was added by mistake, contact us at admin@unitegive.com within 7 days and we will refund the tip portion in full.
Can donors request a refund of their donation?+
Yes. Donors can request a refund within 60 days through our refund request form. Eligibility is determined under our Refund Policy and Donor Guarantee — refunds are issued back to the original payment method, typically in 5–10 business days.
If a donation is refunded, what happens to the processing fee?+
The 2.7% + $0.30 processing fee is not returned on refunded donations. UniteGive absorbs that cost on approved refunds, and any tip associated with the refunded donation is also returned to the donor.
When do organizers get paid?+
Organizers request a payout from the dashboard once funds settle with our payments partner (typically 2–7 business days after each donation). Bank transfers are free.
What currencies are supported?+
Donors pay in USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, or AUD. Campaigns are denominated in USD and our payments partner handles FX at settlement.
Are donations tax-deductible?+
Donations to personal campaigns are generally not tax-deductible. Donations to verified 501(c)(3) nonprofits on UniteGive may be — check the campaign's verification badge and consult a tax advisor.
